What is Reiki?

Reiki is a century old holistic healing technique originating from Japan. Reiki has shown to promote relaxation, calmness, reduces stress and lessens anxiety. Based on the principals of energy and quantum healing, Reiki practitioners place their palms on your body with the intention of restoring the flow and balance of your physical and emotional well-being. With the idea that emotional imbalances and traumas can become stagnant in the body and create dis-ease, Reiki works with those energetic areas to restore balance and promote emotional healing which some believe can aid in physical healing.

What Happens in a Reiki session?

The therapist places their hands on various locations on the patient’s body depending on where healing is needed to promote relaxation and a sense of calm. It is the belief that the practitioner is able to stimulate your body’s natural healing abilities and assists in deep emotional healing and wellness. Reiki treatments involve being fully clothed. Being as comfortable as possible

Reflexology

WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?

Foot Reflexology is different from a standard foot massage. Reflexology is an ancient healing technique that works on the principle that nerve endings on the feet correspond to all the glands, organs, systems and regions of the body. Reflexology works on the premise that stimulation of specific pressure points on the feet activates the body’s self-healing response, thus allowing the flow of energy and circulation to be restored for overall health and wellness.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF FOOT REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology optimises nerve function, increases energy, boosts circulation, induces a deep state of relaxation, eliminates toxins, stimulates the central nervous system, may prevent migraines, and may assist in a wide range of chronic conditions by:

  • Working on stress and anxiety related conditions
  • Strengthening the immune system
  • Increasing energy levels and well-being
  • Improving circulation
  • Relieving pain
  • Assisting the body’s detoxification

What to expect:

A treatment is performed on a massage table where you are fully clothed. Your feet will be washed and inspected. Like a foot massage, you will feel pressure on certain areas of your feet. Sometimes, there are tender reflexes on the foot that often correspond with different areas of the body. One foot is done at a time. It is recommended to have 3-5 sessions depending on your health goals.

A treatment can last 45 minutes to an hour.

Reflexology is covered under EXTENDED BENEFITS with your health care insurance provider.
